On Friday, March 27, 2020, President Trump signed a $2 trillion dollar emergency relief bill to aid Americans during the COVID-19 and US economic crisis. The bill will provide direct financial assistance to Americans in the form of a check based on their income.
A one-time $1,200 check will be directly given to individuals who earn $75,000 or less annually.
Married couples earning up to $150,000 will receive a $2,400 check, along with an additional $500 per each child.
In addition, the bill will provide financial assistance to hospitals, state and local governments, and small businesses.
The US now has a 3.3 million record of Americans who filed for unemployment as businesses continue to shut down. In Hawai’i, more than 60,000 people have filed for unemployment.
