By Isaac Cruz & Mariah Tinay

As of June 1st 2019 Honolulu Community College has a new chancellor. Karen Lee fulfills the position left by former chancellor Erika Lacro, who was promoted to oversee all seven community colleges in the state of Hawai’i. Lacro had served as Honolulu CC’s chancellor since July 2012.

Prior to joining the Honolulu CC’s leadership team back in 2017, Lee served in various administrative positions  throughout her career: Associate Vice President of Student Affairs for the UH System, Executive Assistant to the UH President, in dean and director positions at Columbia and Colgate Universities.

“It gives me great comfort knowing that she is there to lead the college.” Lacro said.
