The annual CMA National Media Convention, held in New York City, has helped give our HONcc student media board members a better inside look of what it takes to accomplish their goals and inspiration to pursue their dreams in media. During this convention, there was a variety of sessions for students to choose from, in categories dealing with different aspects of media. Students from HONcc attended 5-7 sessions a day for three consecutive days. These categories consisted of leadership, news writing, magazine layouts, radio talk shows, photography, video editing, news reporting, internships, editing of all kinds, travel writing, blogging, social media, text types, websites, television, and the list goes on. There was no limit to amount of knowledge this convention had to offer, and with this knowledge students are able to bring back a better idea and a sense of motivation to improve their media outlets for their school’s campus.
