Carpentry program head talks safety

Dean Crowell of HCC’s  Carpentry Technology program was interviewed by KHON2 this week  regarding safety training.

Reacting a story about unsafe working conditions at a job site in town, Crowell told the station that the school emphasizes safety right from the start of its programs.

“We always have this saying, ‘Don’t get hurt, be alert,’” said Dean Crowell, assistant professor at Honolulu Community College. “Teach them how to handle tools, electrical tools, hand tools properly, and just work site safety, keeping it clean. A clean work site is an efficient and productive work site.”
