Ho’olaule’a almost here

Honolulu Community College students were working hard this week getting ready for Wednesday’s 4th annual Ho’olaule’a on campus.

The event will celebrate the founding of the school’s mala, or garden, of Niuhelewai.

On Tuesday, students and others began preparing the imu for the celebration, which will include food, music, games and Hawaiian crafts. And it’s all free, for as long as the food lasts.

The celebration starts at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the garden behind Building 2 on campus.  In keep with a sustainability theme, visitors are asked to bring their own reuseable plants, cups and utensils.
