Help needed as Ho’olaule’a nears

malaPreparations are under way for one of the year’s biggest events at Honolulu Community College: The annual Ho’olaule’a, which will be held Wednesday, April 15.
Volunteers are needed to help with the work leading up to the event. If you have time, your help would be welcome.
•  Friday, April 10th, 8 a.m. to noon;  clean up māla area in preparation, splitting wood for im
•  Monday, April 13, 8 a.m. till finished; huki kalo (harvest taro) at māla, digging imu, and setting imu.
Tuesday, April 14, starting from 8 a.m.: harvest sweet potato, setup of EZ corner tents, and preparing area for Hoʻolauleʻa event. Cooking of the taro, lighting of imu, and preparation for closing imu around 4 p.m.  (shred banana stump, gather ti-leaves).
• Day of event, Wednesday April 15, starting at 7 a.m. cleaning of cooked taro (scraping the outside skin off), setup chairs, stage area, poi pounding area, workshop stations, and food line area.
