New class focuses on hybrid and electric vehicle

hybridPCATT and the Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning center at Honolulu CC are offering a new class and alternative energy program called Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Maintenance and Repair. The classes start Feb. 19.

There are a total of six modules. The first two modules are prerequisites to the remaining modules in the series, which will include sessions on shop safety and basic maintenance, electric theory, climate control, batteries and batter management, the hybrid vehicle and the electric vehicle.

All of these are 20-hour courses with the exception of the Electrical Theory class which is 30 hours.

Classes meet at the Automotive Facility at Honolulu CC on Kokea Street two nights a week and will have a hybrid and electric car available to work on. Individuals will learn with up to date equipment and tools. Each module is priced separately, so you pay for each module before it starts. Current Honolulu CC students will get a price discount of $300.
