Nick Rolovich leaves Hawai’i for Washington State University

Nick Rolovich, head football coach at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa, has accepted the head coach position at Washington State University.

“Nick called me tonight to inform me that he accepted the Washington State job,” University of Hawaii Athletics Director David Matlin said late Monday night. “Our football program is in a better place today because of Nick and we wish him all the best.”

According to Pete Thamel, an award-winning writer covering college sports and the NFL, he’s expected to sign a five-year contract approaching $3 million per year.

Rolovich will replace Mike Leach, who left the school to accept the head coaching position at Mississippi State.

“Our search for our next head coach begins immediately,” Matlin added.

Nick Rolovich has been the head coach of the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors since December of 2015.

Rolovich guided the Rainbow Warriors to a 10-win season in 2019 and compiled a 28-27 record during his four-year stint as the program’s coach.
