HCC Chancellor to serve as interim VP for Community Colleges

Honolulu Community College Chancellor Erika Lacro has been named interim UH vice president for community colleges. She will replace John Morton, who is retiring as of June 1.

HonCC Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs Karen Lee to will serve  as interim chancellor for HCC, Lacro announced.

A graduate of UH-Mānoa, Erika Lacro holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree in travel industry management, and a PhD in communication and information sciences. With her degrees, she was able to serve in several management roles at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

After working at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, Lacro joined UH where she previously served as assistant dean and director of student services, as well as director of internship and career development for the School of Travel Industry Management at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Then, in 2007, she became vice chancellor of academic affairs at Honolulu CC until July of 2012, when she was appointed as Honolulu Community College’s chancellor. Lacro is the first female to hold the chief executive position.
