COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Plan Is Expanded

The State of Hawai’i expands the distribution plan on who will get a COVID-19 vaccine. The first phase will be split into three parts which will cover healthcare workers, essential workers, and the elderly. The second phase will cover the general population of Hawai’i. Here is the estimated timeline for vaccine distribution:

Phase 1a from Dec. 2020 – Jan 2021

  • healthcare workers (approximately 40,000 people)
  • long-term care facility residents (approximately 10,000 people)

Phase 1b Dec. 2020 – Jan. 2021

  • residents age 75+ (approximately 109,000 people)
  • frontline essential workers (approximately 50,000 people)

Phase 1c Mar. 2021 – May 2021

  • residents age 64-74
  • individuals with underlying medical conditions
  • other essential workers
  • (approximately 400,000 people in total)
