Big parking changes coming this semester

Big parking changes are coming to the Honolulu CC campus this semester.

First and foremost, Lot 1-C, the parking lot known as the gravel lot where the majority of students are used to parking, is going to be closed all semester.  The good news is that after the work is completed, sometime in the Spring, the lot will be paved.

However, until then administration officials say most students will have to park in Lot 8, about a half-mile walk from campus. The lot is located next to Kapalama Stream, makai of Dillingham Boulevard,

During the period Lot 1C is closed, student parking permits will free.

“We encourage everyone who parks in Lot 8 to be extremely careful when crossing the intersection of Dillingham Blvd and Kokea Street and adhere to all traffic signals. There are no sidewalks on Kokea Street mauka of Dillingham Blvd, so we encourage use of the sidewalk on Dillingham Blvd to access the campus,” Vice Chancellor Derek Inafuki said in an email to the campus community.

Other parking changes include:

  • Entry and exit lanes from Lot 1 via Kokea Street will be one-way only.
  • Access to Lot 2 exit, in front of Building 7,  is only via Dillingham Blvd.
  • Designated drop-off areas are located at the entrance to Lot 1 and Lot 4
