The heart-pounding movie “Gravity” featuring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney was the leading movie money-maker in October.
In the move, disaster strikes a team of astronauts on what was supposed to be a routine mission. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving two astronauts spiraling into the blackness of space with no chance of rescue.
The opening weekend, starting Oct. 4, made $55 million, breaking box office records this month.
“Visual effects were like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” said Michael Leidemann, HonCC professor and one of the many people watching in the first week.
Gravity is showing at all theaters, including Dole Cannery Regal Theater and Ward Consolidated Theater located near HonCC.
