The sixth annual Ka māla o Niuhelewai Hoʻolauleʻa at Honolulu Community College will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, April 12, and it’s going to be bigger than ever.
This year Hoʻolauleʻa is a combined event with the Career Fair and the Sustainability Showcase venues. These events, coordinated with a shared emphasis on local culture, sustainable choices and community involvement, will include contests, crafts, demonstrations, and games. Exhibitors, employers offering career opportunities, informational booths promoting greater environmental awareness, live music and `ono food can also be expected.
There will be passport system for everyone to participate at all of the venues and receive stamps to complete their passport in order to receive their Hawaiian food plate at the māla. The opening protocol for the event will be near the mall at 9:30 a.m.
In keeping with the sustainability theme, participants are being encouraged to bring their own reusable plate or container, reusable beverage cup or flask, and reusable utensils for their lunch.
